Five Books, One Month: My Reading Goal and How I Plan to Conquer It!

Hello, bookish friends! I've set myself a challenge this month: to read FIVE books. Yes, five! After a period of… let's call it "reading hibernation," I'm determined to get back into the swing of things and make some serious progress on my TBR.

Five books might seem like a lot to some, a little to others, but for me, it's the perfect balance of ambitious and achievable. It's enough to push me, but not so much that I feel overwhelmed.

Why Five Books?

  • A Realistic Challenge: It's a number that feels attainable within the timeframe of a month, even with my busy schedule.
  • Motivation Boost: Having a specific goal gives me something to work towards and keeps me accountable.
  • Variety is Key: Five books allows me to explore different genres and authors, keeping my reading experience fresh and exciting.
  • TBR Taming: It will make a noticeable dent in the unread books pile, which is always a satisfying feeling.

My Strategy for Success:

To achieve my five-book goal, I'm implementing a few key strategies:

  • Prioritization: I've carefully selected the five books I want to read this month. They're a mix of new releases, long-awaited reads, and a couple of comfort reads.
  • Scheduled Reading Time: I'm blocking out dedicated reading time in my calendar, treating it like any other important appointment. Even small chunks of time add up!
  • Audiobook Integration: When I'm on the go, I'm turning to audiobooks. This allows me to "read" while commuting, exercising, or doing chores.
  • Minimizing Distractions: I'm creating a cozy, distraction-free reading environment. Phone on silent, social media on pause, and a comfy spot to curl up with a book.
  • Tracking Progress: I'm keeping track of my reading progress in a journal, noting down my thoughts and reflections. This helps me stay motivated and accountable.
  • Genre Mix-Up: I am varying the types of books I am reading. I find that if I read only one genre, I get burnt out.
  • Flexible Goals: If I am not enjoying a book, I will DNF it. My goal is to read 5 enjoyable books.

The Book Lineup (Subject to Change!)

I have a list of books I am hoping to get through, but I am also allowing myself the flexibility to change books if needed.
