My Bookish New Year's Resolution: To Conquer My TBR Pile (and Maybe Finally Finish "War and Peace")

The new year is officially upon us, and like many of you, I'm making some resolutions. But mine aren't about hitting the gym or eating healthier (though those are noble goals!). No, my resolution this year is purely bookish: to conquer my towering TBR pile.

Now, for the uninitiated, the "TBR pile" refers to that ever-growing mountain of books that I intend to read. It's a chaotic mix of physical books overflowing from my shelves, ebooks lurking on my Kindle, and a seemingly endless list of audiobooks patiently waiting to be played.

This year, I'm determined to make a dent in this monstrous collection. I've even devised a (somewhat) organized plan:

  • The "Quick Wins" Shelf: This shelf will be dedicated to shorter reads, novellas, and those books I know I can devour in a weekend.
  • The "Classics" Challenge: I've been meaning to tackle some literary giants for years. This year, I'm setting a goal to finally finish "War and Peace" (wish me luck!).
  • The "Genre Exploration" Shelf: I'm branching out beyond my usual comfort zone. No more fantasy for a while! I'm diving into historical fiction, thrillers, and maybe even some poetry.

Of course, this ambitious plan might be derailed by the allure of a new shiny release or the sudden urge to reread a beloved favorite. But hey, that's part of the fun, right?

I'm excited to see how this year's reading journey unfolds. I'll be sharing updates on my progress (and my inevitable setbacks) on my social media.

What are your reading resolutions for the new year? Share your goals and let's hold each other accountable!
