30 Books Before 2025: A Ticking Time Bomb
Okay, folks, let’s have a heart-to-heart. I’m in a bit of a pickle here. You see, I made this grand declaration at the beginning of the year that I was going to read 30 books before 2025. And guess what? The New year is right around the corner.
I’m starting to feel like a contestant on The Amazing Race who’s just been handed a clue that says, “Find the hidden treasure in the Sahara Desert before sunset.” Except instead of a treasure, I’m chasing down a stack of unread books. And instead of the Sahara, I’m trapped in my cozy little apartment.
I’ve got a mix of classics, bestsellers, and random picks that have been sitting on my shelf for what feels like centuries. There’s that one book everyone seems to love but I’m not sure about. There’s that other book that’s supposed to be hilarious but I’m not sure I have the brainpower to understand. And then there’s that classic I’ve been meaning to tackle since high school.
I’ve tried various strategies to speed up my reading. I’ve tried listening to audiobooks while I’m driving. I’ve tried reading on my phone during my lunch break. I’ve even tried bribing myself with chocolate. But nothing seems to work. I’m still drowning in a sea of unread pages.
But then I remember all the amazing books I’ve already read this year. I’ve laughed, I’ve cried, I’ve been inspired. And I wouldn’t trade that for anything in the world. So, I guess I’ll keep on reading. Even if it means sacrificing sleep, social life, and possibly my sanity.
Wish me luck!
