Book Review: The September House by Carissa Orlando

The September House by Carissa Orlando

  Rating: ⭐⭐⭐

A Chilling Exploration of a Haunted House

The September House by Carissa Orlando is a captivating and chilling exploration of a haunted Victorian home. I found myself immediately drawn to the protagonist, Margaret, a determined woman who refuses to abandon her dream house despite its terrifying secrets.

Her unwavering resolve and unwavering belief in the house's potential are both admirable and relatable, making it easy to root for her as she faces the supernatural forces that threaten her family. The author's vivid descriptions of the house and its ghostly inhabitants create a palpable sense of dread and unease, immersing me in the story from the very beginning.

The novel's pacing is well-executed, gradually building tension and suspense as the hauntings intensify. The twists and turns in the plot are both unexpected and satisfying, keeping me engaged and on the edge of my seat throughout the entire read.

While I appreciated the book's atmospheric setting and its exploration of the supernatural, I felt that the ending was a bit rushed and left some questions unanswered. Additionally, some of the supporting characters felt a bit one-dimensional, particularly the secondary characters.

However, these minor shortcomings did not detract from my overall enjoyment of the story. The September House is a thrilling and atmospheric haunted house tale that offers a unique and chilling perspective on the genre. I highly recommend it to fans of spooky stories with a twist.
