The Coworker by Freida McFadden

 The Coworker by Freida McFadden

  Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I recently finished The Coworker by Freida McFadden, and I must say, it was a thrilling ride from start to finish. As a fan of psychological thrillers, I was immediately drawn into the story of Natalie, a seemingly perfect sales rep at a nutritional supplement company who finds herself embroiled in a dangerous mystery when her quiet and introverted coworker, Dawn, disappears.

From the beginning, McFadden does a fantastic job of building tension and suspense. The atmosphere in the office is thick with secrets and unspoken animosity, and as Natalie becomes increasingly involved in the investigation, she begins to question everything she thought she knew about her coworkers. The author's writing style is both engaging and atmospheric, and I found myself completely absorbed in the story.

While the plot is undeniably gripping, what truly sets The Coworker apart is the development of the characters. Natalie is a complex and relatable protagonist, and her journey of self-discovery as she navigates the treacherous waters of office politics is both fascinating and heartbreaking. The supporting characters are equally well-drawn, and their motivations and secrets add depth and complexity to the story.

I was particularly impressed by McFadden's ability to keep the reader guessing. The twists and turns in the plot are both unexpected and satisfying, and I found myself constantly trying to piece together the puzzle. While I did manage to guess a few of the reveals, the overall mystery was well-constructed and kept me on the edge of my seat until the very end.

Overall, I would highly recommend The Coworker to fans of psychological thrillers. It's a well-written and suspenseful novel that will keep you guessing until the very end. While it's not perfect - there were a few moments where the pacing felt a bit slow - I believe it's a solid addition to the genre.
