Reading Slump Survival Guide: Tips and Tricks

Have you ever had a reading slump? Honestly I have had so many reading slumps, some for longer than other. This is a normal thing that happens for those of us that sometimes read too much. This even happens whenever I start a reading journey and then decide to take a "break" and take forever to pick up a book again.

It happens to the best of us! Sometimes, we find ourselves staring at a page, our minds wandering, and the words just not sticking. This is often referred to as a reading slump. But don't worry, you're not alone! And the good news is, there are ways to break free from this reading rut.

Here are a few tips to help you get back into the groove of reading:

  1. Revisit Your Favorites: Sometimes, all you need is a comforting reminder of why you love reading in the first place. Dive back into a series or book that has always brought you joy. For me is the Hunger Games series.
  2. Mix It Up: If you've been stuck in a genre rut, try exploring something new. Branching out can spark your interest and make reading feel fresh again.
  3. Set Realistic Goals: Don't overwhelm yourself with lofty reading goals. Start small and gradually increase your reading time. Even a few pages a day can make a difference.
  4. Create a Cozy Reading Nook: A comfortable and inviting space can make reading more enjoyable. Find a quiet spot where you can relax and escape into your book.
  5. Join a Book Club: Discussing books with others can help you connect with stories on a deeper level and gain new perspectives.
  6. Take a Break: If you're feeling burnt out, it's okay to step away from books for a while. Sometimes, a short break can help you recharge and come back to reading with renewed enthusiasm. Before I started this blog, I was in the biggest reading slump, I took a break and I am back more passionate than ever. So, take your break, if you need it.

Remember, everyone experiences reading slumps from time to time. It's a normal part of the reading journey. By following these tips, you can overcome your slump and rediscover the joy of reading.
