A Disappearance That Rocks the Community

The story begins when nine-year-old Avery Wooler vanishes mysteriously from her own home. The disappearance quickly becomes a media sensation, and the pressure on the police to find Avery mounts.

A Cast of Suspicious Characters

Lapena introduces a diverse cast of characters, each with their own hidden agendas and secrets. From the troubled parents of the missing girl to their suspicious neighbors, everyone seems to have something to hide. As the investigation unfolds, I was drawn into a web of deceit and manipulation, constantly questioning who to trust in the story.

A Gripping Plot with Unexpected Twists

Everyone Here is Lying is a masterclass in suspenseful storytelling. Lapena expertly weaves together a complex plot filled with unexpected twists and turns. The short, alternating chapters keep the pace fast-paced and kept me constantly guessing. As the truth slowly unravels, I was left breathless, eager to discover the shocking conclusion.

A Critique of Suburban Life

Beyond being a thrilling read, Everyone Here is Lying also offers a thought-provoking commentary on suburban life. Lapena explores the facade of perfection that often hides underlying tensions and discontent. The novel raises questions about the pressures of parenthood, the importance of community, and the consequences of unchecked secrets.

The story was amazing, the only reason I did not rate it higher was because I thought too much was going on, too many characters introduced, and this sometimes made the story difficult to understand. If you enjoy stories that keep you guessing until the very end, this book is definitely for you.
